What makes this Northern Lights tour different
Tromso sits in the middle of the auroral oval, which makes it one of the most reliable places on earth to see the Aurora Borealis. But the lights move with the weather, and the difference between a good night and a great one is usually the willingness to drive. This tour is built as a chase: your guides track cloud cover and aurora activity through the evening and take the group where the sky is clearest, rather than waiting at a fixed camp.
What to expect on the night
You are picked up in central Tromso in the evening. Depending on conditions, the chase can head inland, along the fjords, or out toward the islands. When the group finds clear sky, you settle in by a fire with hot drinks and a classic Norwegian reindeer sausage while the guides help you read the sky and take photos of you under the lights. Full Arctic suits and winter boots are included, so ordinary warm layers underneath are enough.
When to see the Northern Lights in Tromso
The season runs from September to early April, when the nights are dark enough for the aurora to show. The lights are about dark, clear skies rather than cold weather, so autumn and late-season trips can be just as rewarding as midwinter. If you only have a few nights in the Arctic, a guided chase is the best way to spend one of them: a small group, local guides, and a plan that follows the sky.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What an unforgettable experience! Max was an absolutely fantastic Northern Lights guide. His knowledge of the area and the aurora was incredible, and his friendly personality and great sense of humour made the entire experience even more enjoyable. What really stood out was how much effort he put into making sure we had the best possible chance of seeing the Northern Lights. He genuinely went above and beyond, and his passion and dedication were evident throughout the trip. Max made an already magical experience even more special, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Thank you, Max, for making our trip so memorable! Awesome experience - Gabriel and Marwan were awesome!!! Highly recommend Gabriel specifically. Took us to a very secluded area on a beach about an hour and a half outside of Tromso and we had an incredible time. My pictures don’t do it justice. From start to finish they did an awesome job! Highly recommend! Thanks to Marwan for the driving and assisting in getting us all suited up.

Amazing tour!!
The tour was amazing! We were with the tour guide Nelson who was super professional, fun and friendly. We had wonderful time and were lucky enough to see the sky full of the northern lights! The tour guide took beautiful photos of us and told us all about the northern lights. Thank you! We love to come again next time in tromso❤️

Incredible Northern Horizon Tour with Max – Highly Recommended! Our guide Max and the driver were truly outstanding! On our tour day in Tromsø, it was raining with the sky completely covered in clouds. We were so worried we wouldn't get to see the Northern Lights. However, Max constantly monitored the sky and directed our driver all the way to the Finnish border. He took us to a peaceful spot, where we enjoyed warm local sausages, and hot drinks around the fire in comfy thermal suits—and we finally saw the stunning lights! What touched us most was that Max genuinely prioritized showing us the lights over keeping to a schedule. Though originally a 6–7.5 hour tour, we didn't return until 3:00 AM. For him, time wasn't an issue as long as we had an extraordinary experience. 100% trustworthy and worth every minute!!

I really want to highlight how amazing Gabriel was as our guide throughout the entire experience. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and passionate! He never stopped explaining things to us and keeping us excited, constantly reassuring us that we were going to see the Northern Lights no matter what — and we actually did! A huge shoutout to Vitek, our driver, as well! He noticed a strange smell coming from the minibus and immediately decided to switch vehicles before we even started the trip. That really showed how much he cared about everyone’s safety and comfort. He was an excellent driver, always attentive and supportive of Gabriel. They make an incredible team! And to top it all off, they dropped us off right at the door of our hotel in Tromsø! The photos were absolutely spectacular, and the campfire was such a special touch that made the whole experience even more magical. I honestly felt like a little kid again, haha! The hot chocolate was delicious, the location was perfect, and the hospitality was outstanding. My friends absolutely loved the thermal suits, too! Everything about this experience was amazing, from beginning to end. We couldn’t have asked for a better Northern Lights adventure. Thank you so much, Gabriel and Vitek, for making this such an unforgettable experience!

Unforgettable experience!! :) We did the tour yesterday with Gabriel and Isac, and it was amazing. Both were incredibly attentive from start to finish. Gabriel has such a contagious energy, always cheerful, helpful and positive! The forecast wasn't on our side and the sky was full of clouds, but he never gave up. He did everything he could to make it the best experience possible, and thanks to his effort, we saw the northern lights! Highly recommend. Thank you, Gabriel and Isac! 💚
