
Authentic Sami Encounter
Enjoy a 25-30 minute sleigh ride as the reindeer guide you around the valley and along the coast. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to feed 300 of these magnificent animals before entering the gamme for a hot traditional meal cooked over the fire. Finish the day by gathering around the fire to listen to Sami history, stories and joiking (songs).

Start your adventure with pickup in Tromsø city centre (Bankgata/Fredrik Langes Gate) at 09:45 or 12:45, followed by a 25-minute drive to a reindeer camp. Here you’ll enjoy a 25–30 minute reindeer sledding ride, feed wild reindeer, and try lasso throwing (not on real reindeer). Afterward, warm up inside a traditional Sami hut (gamme/lavvo) with hot drinks and a hearty lunch of bidos (reindeer stew), with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available. Your hosts will share stories of Sami culture and history, and perform a traditional joik song. The tour ends with a 25-minute bus ride back to Tromsø, arriving around 14:00 (or 17:00 for afternoon tours).
